Vagabond Antiques was founded by Joe Chaffer in October 2015
From an early age Joe was surrounded by his mother’s love for all things Antique and after spending the last 12 years in London pursuing a career with various premium menswear brands, Joe rekindled a deep rooted passion for antiques and interiors.
Joe started Vagabond in the old function rooms at his local pub The Murrell Arms in October 2015.
After nearly a year of strong trading Vagabond was able to take on a larger premises with the Flower Barn in Barnham which still remains part of the Vagabond set up for trade appointments and stock processing.
A year on and Vagabond is able to take on its first shop in the Village of Fittleworth.
This year we have been lucky enough to exhibit at The Bath Decorative Antique & Art Exhibition & we’re looking forward to our summer shows at SALVO 2017 Henley on Thames and the more local Country Brocante set in the stunning Cowdray ruins.
They called me a Vagabond,
But I was a King of the Road.
My word was a solemn bond.
I was not the man to goad.
Free as the air I went on my way,
My head held high for all to see.
I worked on farms for very low pay,
It was just enough to keep me.
Luxury I had foresworn it was just a bubble,
Fresh air, Nature’s beauty was all I craved.
To make a bed of ferns was no trouble,
My day dreams my sanity saved.
If you ever meet a King of the Road,
A vagabond he may well be.
Know that he would not change his load,
For he is a free man just like me.
